Despite warming weather, COVID-19 has yet to release its grip on global society. This Easter, we’re all challenged to connect with family and friends in a different, more distanced way.Why not use this as an opportunity to start new traditions -- like playing video games together -- from the comfort and safety of your own homes? Happy Easter!



A new organization and gaming event series called You Are Not Alone (YANA) has been formed to combat loneliness during the pandemic, reports the Esports Observer.  The initiative runs May 2 from noon to midnight BST with an online gaming event that aims to reach over 10M gamers worldwide. Participants and spectators will be able to donate to various COVID-19 causes through the crowdfunding donation platform Just Giving. The content calendar is still being finalized with brands and publishers, and a full schedule will be released soon. Adam Whyte, Co-founder and CEO of Edge Esports, the Founder of the gaming-centric organization in question, highlights brands willingness to help as a sign of the times. He also believes that gaming is accessible and can bring us together. And we can’t agree more!

Unsurprisingly, as more people stay home for longer periods of time due to COVID-19, they are also watching more live streams. According to the quarterly live streaming industry report,  Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming all saw quarter-over-quarter lifts in viewership in Q1 2020, with Twitch reaching 3.1 billion hours watched in a single quarter for the first time ever! Zoom’s daily user base, by some estimates, has more than quadrupled as people worldwide adapt to working and learning together, but apart. So, if this is where we’re spending so much of our time talking to one another, why not bling it up a little? Some video game publishers have gotten in on this fad this week. Torque Esports' virtual esports racing series will be shown live on TV starting this Saturday (April 11) for the first time ever in a new broadcast partnership with Disney-owned ESPN. Yahoo Finance also reports that along with the exciting live broadcast news, The Race All-Star Series - Fully Charged by ROKiT Phones - would later evolve into a full championship series.
